What is Phi?
The Golden Ratio is represented numerically as 1:1.618 and the number 1.618 has been given the name Phi. It is a constant found throughout nature and is beautifully revealed in the shape of the nautilus shell, the shape of the human ear, in spiral galaxies and even in the rhythm of our own heartbeat – it’s shape has natural appeal to us. It resonates throughout creation connecting us to the universe and to each other.
History/examples of Phi
Humans, for centuries, have explored the mysteries of Phi and harnessed it’s beauty and function in epic structures such as the Parthenon and the Great Pyramids of Egypt. It is also illustrated in everyday items such as the shape of a credit card and the proportions of the UN building in New York City. The spirals represent the four elements of creation: earth, water, air and fire. As a finishing touch, a bead of pure gold is nestled within the inside of the topmost spiral, symbolizing the purity and perfection of harmony in creation. The HarmonyPhi Classic pendant is 1.14 in (29mm) in diameter, and comes nestled in a special box and the sterling silver chain that comes with it can be adjusted from 16" to 18" long – a perfect fit for all!
