The Peace symbol is celebrating its 50th birthday this year but it isn’t the only symbol of peace, love and harmony out there. The Ancient Greeks knew everything in the universe was connected and so does award-winning Canadian jeweller Michael DaCosta: his latest creation explores the meaning of phi, a.k.a. Φ, a.k.a. the golden ratio (or if you want to get mathematical about it, 1.618...). DaCosta’s HarmonyPhi pendant is laden with meaning. The pretty motif combines the ancient symbol of harmony (phi) in a circle (for unity) with the four swirls of the nautilus shell (each representing earth, air, wind and fire) and a tiny bead of pure gold (the indomitable human spirit).
