Michael, a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, owns Fortunes Fine Jewelry in Toronto where, over the past twenty-five years, his jewelry has won wide acclaim for beauty and skill. Michael is a three-time winner of the DeBeers Diamonds Today competition in 1987, 1989 and 1991.He was a semi-finalist in the 2004 DeBeers Diamonds International, a triple finalist and winner of the Canadian Excellence in Design Award in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2009 Michael won Platinum Honors in the prestigious American Gem Trade Association design competition and in 2010, two of his designs were chosen for the Excellence in Design Competition.
